Sonitra Amare is a resident of Silver Spring, MD. She developed her passion for the performing arts at the age of 10. She received formal training in genres such as ballet, modern and lyrical dance. Following her formal training, Sonitra served as company member for various small companies in the DC metropolitan area. Her dance experience includes performing genres such as West African, Samba, Salsa, and Afro-Brazilian dance. She holds B.A degree International Affairs as well as a M.A. degree in Communications. She later worked as School Manager for the Washington School of Ballet’s satellite location in Southeast, Washington DC (TWB@THEARC) which prompted a passion for arts education and arts non-profit development. She believes dance to be a safe, fun, and healing experience for all.
